Spindrift is an online comic featuring a modern fantasy story that is being published online and is free to read for everyone. This is a work of collaboration between Elsa Kroese and Charlotte English (author of Draykon).
Spindrift started back in 2006, when Elsa first started thinking about creating a fantasy comic someday. She spent a few years collecting ideas and notes before starting work on an outline and a story in early 2011.

Elsa knew she would need the help of a writer, and preferably a native English speaker. Elsa and Charlotte originally got in touch through the friendship of their respective partners; this was a piece of mere chance and luck that has worked out really well. Elsa’s original story outline was reworked between the two of them into the story that is now being played out as Spindrift.
The web has really opened up a lot of new possibilities in the last few years. It’s allowed for the Spindrift project to go ahead without needing publishers or investors, as currently everything is simply published online. The interactive nature of the internet is also a huge advantage: it’s wonderful having a direct link to readers and hearing the reactions and thoughts of Spindrift’s audience as each page goes online.
That said, it’s very likely that there will be a print version of the novel someday. It’s something to look into after the story has been finished and fully published online. As for sequels? Who knows! For now the focus is simply on finishing the story as planned, and there’s a great deal of story to go so that’s going to take some time. But it’s not impossible that there might be more titles undertaken someday.
Updates are currently appearing once a week. Thursday is update day, when one new page is posted to the Spindrift site. It’s possible that the schedule may rise to two pages per week in due course, but Elsa puts an enormous amount of work into each page, so at present she’s kept very busy.
Elsa and Charlotte are always glad to hear from readers, so please feel free to visit the website or Facebook page and get in touch. Or you can follow @SpindriftComic on Twitter.
